Meadowlark Log Homes is in Montana. They can ship their log home kits to any state or even other countries.
Meadowlark Log Homes controls all parts of making your kit, milling, cutting, hand-peeling, fastening and notching.
They hand-peel the logs and shape them. The kits use flat on flat log construction. They don’t need to be chinked (like my cabin). The logs are air dried, so there is much less shrinkage.
The cabin is put together at their warehouse in Libby, Montana. Then the logs are packaged and shipped to you, ready to re-assemble.
The logs arrive numbered, pre-drilled and ready to assemble. This makes the build go much faster, whether you are building it yourself or have a contractor build for you.
Meadowlark Log Homes has experienced builders in Montana and North Dakota. They work with affiliate companies in other states and Canada. Or they can help you find a local licensed builder.
You can even tour the Meadowlark Log Home mill and log home facility. Visit the local Amish community, the farms, market store, and surrounding area of mountains and wilderness of Kootenai Valley.
My favorite plan is Green Gables. It is 1,049 square feet, just a little bigger than our log cabin.
The cabin is two stories, with two bedrooms and one bath. The downstairs has 768 square feet. Upstairs is an open loft with 281 square feet.
The ceiling in the living room is open with a cathedral ceiling.
There is a large covered porch on one side.
The front has an open deck to reach the front door.
The kits have logs all the way up to the gable end. My cabin uses regular wood that is scribed to look like logs for that part.
Green Gables
The Green Gables has been one of Meadowlark’s top models for years. The layout is perfect for a small log home with a bedroom on the main floor and another in the loft. This log cabin has all the features that make it a real log home, such as a log interior wall with an arch, a log stairway to the loft, soaring cathedral ceiling and open kitchen/dining/living area.
Check out their website. There are a lot more photos of the interior and exterior of this and other log cabins. They give all the pricing up front and tell you how to get a discount.
