16 x 16 Sundance TR-1600 2-Story Building
This is the Sundance TR-1600 from TuffShed. They are sold at Home Depot. This is the smallest one I’ve seen, only 16′ x 16′.
This building is way more than just another shed. The TR-1600 boasts the most usable floor space and cubic square feet of any TUFF SHED Sundance Series® building other than a really large garage. Standard features include 8′ first floor walls, a full second floor, 36″ stairs with railing and baluster, a 3’x6’8″ entry door with lockset and boxed eaves on all walls. Add an optional front porch with deck, and you just may want to spend all your free time in this building.
There is a small front porch and windows on the front. Only the door is standard. A 3′ x 6′ 8″ 6-panel residential door is included in the base price. The porch and any windows are options that you pay extra for.
Here is the side view. You can see how narrow the little porch is. You can have a larger porch, if you want. The building has LP® SmartSide siding.
The building has 8’1″ ceiling on the first floor. The second floor has a high ceiling. It is 6’11” on the side, but higher in the center.
This is what the back looks like with no windows. I would prefer some airflow.
This is what it looks like inside a Tuff Shed Sundance TR-1600. There is some space under the stairs.
It has 2 x 6 pressure treated wood floor joists with 3/4″ interlocking premium OSB floor decking.
The walls are 2 x 4 studs spaced 16″ on-center.
With only 16 feet, the stairs make a turn.
The stairs are wide and the tread is standard. The 36″ wide stairs are included in the base price.
The stairs take up more of the upstairs space.
Here is an idea of how to use a 16×16 to make a little 1-br house.
This is another variation. The disadvantage is that any guest would have to walk through the bedroom to the bathroom.
I think I’ve rented apartments with less space.
I wonder if you would hit your head trying to get to the toilet?
