Sandra’s Dressing Room Closet
When Jim married Sandra, he knew she came with stuff. So he built a closet for her. Not just a closet. Sandra’s Dressing Room Closet.
Sandra spent a lot of time on Pinterest planning the closet. Together they made her dream closet a reality.
First, Jim framed the walls and added insulation and vapor barrier.
Then he ran Romex. Don’t worry, Jim is an electrician and Oscar is an experienced helper. They know what they are doing.
They hung drywall. After the Sheetrock seams were taped and mudded, they let it dry.
They painted. Sandra picked Behr Royal Raisin and Old Amethyst.
They added these adjustable shelves on Closet Maid brackets.
Jim made the shelves from plywood.
Sandra found this Cherry Blossom Light Switch Plate. The colors are ideal.
Sandra sanded, primed and painted the shelves and molding. She uses a Ryobi sander and a Wagner paint sprayer.
Jim finished the ceiling, put in lights, including this bling pendant. Sandra’s Dressing Room Closet has plenty of lighting from recessed lights.
It was a lot of work!
Meanwhile, Sandra shopped for furniture for the new dressing room. She started by shopping her own house.
This desk chair doesn’t really match her vision, but it’s so practical and comfortable. A simple slip cover!
Added a warm and fluffy cover to the seat.
She painted a vanity gray and white with Rust-Oleum.
The closet matches the plan. Everything fits the way it is supposed to. There are even outlets where Sandra wants them.
All ready to start bringing in the furniture.
This dresser creates an island in the center of the closet. The crystal pendant hangs over it.
The island is narrow, so it is not too close on either side.
Because these shelves are adjustable, they can be moved to accommodate any wardrobe changes.
The dresser has a movie star makeup mirror.
There is enough space to roll the chair and not hit the island.
The furniture is in. Ready to start filling Sandra’s Dressing Room Closet with clothes.
Just as Sandra imagined.
They started February 5 (planning started earlier) and they are moving the clothes in June 9. Not bad at all!
There is one clothes rack high enough for even the longest dresses.
The adjustable shelves hold shoes, with room for boots at the bottom.
The other side has two rods for all of Sandra’s hanging tops.
Sandra is from Balsam Grove, North Carolina. Sandra, Oscar and Jim live in Valdez, Alaska.
