Getting Settled and Enjoying Spring
The grass is starting to grow. The daffodils I planted in the field behind the house are blooming. And we are getting some things put away.
The grass is starting to grow.
You can see a lot of green under the straw. And a lot of rocks.
I separated more of the daffodils from the log cabin.
I put some in pots by the front door while they are blooming. Then I will plant them in the field behind the house.
This is the entry.
My mother made a pencil sketch of the log cabin. I put it by the front door under Gustafson, our Jackalope.
The house faces east. This is the sunrise through the front window. I see it from my little office window, too.
We’ve been assembling furniture. This is a Hemnes dresser from Ikea.
Cliff put an antenna in the attic for now. We cut the cord at the cabin and got like 20 channels. We haven’t found the sweet spot in the attic. It is not working nearly as well yet.
I’ve been hanging paintings and putting away books. You know, the important things.
I moved the china from the old house directly into the china cabinet. It’s kinda just stuffed in there right now. I’ve been selling what I don’t use that doesn’t fit.
I found the china cabinet on Facebook Marketplace. It is actually a lawyer’s bookcase. It is quite a bit smaller than the one Beau built for me at the log cabin.

I put some of the little daffodil bulbs in pots on the table so they would get warm and bloom. When they bloomed they were too heavy and fell over, so I had to cut them and put them in glasses, since I don’t know what box my vases are in. I planted the bulbs in the field.
Last year I separated some of the daffodils from the log cabin and planted them in the field. Now they are blooming. I got the idea when I visited Ireland.
We plan to cut most of the little trees between the house and the field.
Until we get the real fence finished, Cliff put this little area at the bottom of the steps. It’s Geordie’s outhouse. It has rained and rained, so he put some landscape fabric down so Geordie doesn’t have to wade in the mud.
There is still a lot to do. The closet is a mess and the guest room is full of boxes. (And a guest, right now.) We have been working on the log cabin. It is going to be a guest rental, like VRBO or Airbnb, not sure which. We bought new beds, TVs and a lot of other things. I will add some photos whenever we get something finished enough to take photos of.
