Pet-Proof Screen for the Front Door
Jack, our German Shepard Chow, used to stare at the door and wait patiently. Geordie, our rescue German Shepard Golden Retriever, paws on the screen and woofs to be let in. If no one lets him in immediately, he gets more and more worried and starts to try to dig his way in to where the rest of his flock is. When we let him in he is so happy to see us, as if we’ve been parted for weeks. This happens at least a dozen times a day.
It didn’t take long for him to put a hole through the screen door.
Pet Resistant Mesh
Cliff replaced the screen with Pet Resistant Mesh. We can still see through it. The breeze blows through just fine. But, we have never had to replace the screen again.
So, this is what we got:
Saint-Gobain ADFORS Pet Resistant Black Vinyl-coated Polyester Screen Mesh
The ultimate solution for screens that must be frequently replaced due to household pet damage.
This heavy duty polyester screen prevents tears and damage from household pets and children pushing on the screen.
Our pet resistant screen is now the only flame resistant pet screen on the market by passing ASTM requirements D3656 and D6413, as well as ISO11925-2. The manufacturing process and technology we use provides us with the ability to include a flame retardant coating on the screen.
ADFORS Pet Resistant screen is easy to install, durable, while still allowing for excellent outward visibility and airflow. Our Pet Resistant screen is also GREENGUARD GOLD certified!
The color is called Charcoal. It has a 10 year warranty. I don’t think we’ll need it.
It comes in a lot of different sizes. We were just replacing the screen on one door, so we got the door kit. The door kit comes with screen, spline and a tool to push the spine in. We already had our own tool, so we didn’t use the one that came with the kit.
The manufacturer’s website shows a porch and a pool enclosure screened in with Pet Resistant Screen.
This would have been great for the screen in the Florida room in my old house. The cats used to climb it. We replaced the screen with metal, which had to be painted all the time so it wouldn’t rust. Adfors sells animal-proof screen in big rolls for big jobs like our Florida room.
Adfors is the brand. They make all kinds of industrial fabrics. Saint-Gobain is the parent company. They are a French company that started in 1665. Saint-Gobain, has been awarded for “creating excellent workplace conditions for employees” for the last three years.
Animal-Proof Screen
So, if you need cat-proof screen, dog-proof screen… racoon-proof screen… squirrel-proof screen… we have been extremely happy with this tough pet-proof screen.
Adfors is not the only company in the world that makes animal-proof screen. We didn’t try any of the others. We used this. It wasn’t expensive. It works great.
