The Back Porch
In June they started building the porches. They dug down to the piers and put in the supports. They nailed on flashing. Then they put up the ledger and some serious bolts.
They came back in July and framed the back porch.
Everybody stood on pieces of wood when they worked out there.
Now it is August. They are putting up the siding. One of the siding crew will be decking the porch.
The siding guys conferred and the contractor sent the carpenters back to box in the back porch supports. It would be too complicated to cut and piece around the posts the way they were.
Around this time, the electrician put in the boxes for the ceiling fans, a flood light and security lights.
So here is the porch with the siding and the ceiling partially finished.
It didn’t take any time at all to put down the decking. He nailed it all in, then trimmed it off.
The back porch with the decking finished.
A couple of weeks later, the deck guy came back and put up the railing and the balusters. The steps can’t go in until the final grade.
You can see the boxes for the ceiling fans.
In the center will be a flood light toward the field behind the house. The corners have motion detector spotlights that can be aimed.
So, here it is finished.
