What do the log cabin shells look like inside?
Inside is completely unfinished. They are built using standard materials, 16 on center 2x4s and 3/4″ tongue and groove plywood subfloor.
You can add insulation and finish the walls, floor and ceiling any way you want.
The dormer windows are usable. A lot of dormer windows are just for looks. They are just stuck on the roof. Some just open into the attic, if they open at all.
You can see here how the windows are lined up and where the walls meet the roof.
The ceiling ties or joists are high, so there is room for insulation while still leaving a high ceiling.
And again, the windows lined up. You can order these any way you want. Add more windows, change the locations, or save money by having fewer.
Doors and Windows
The cabin can be customized any way you want.
This is the back of a cabin. It gives you an idea of what the roof looks like without the dormer windows and what the wall looks like without the porch.
Compare it to with the dormer windows and porch below.
The Porch
Both of these examples include a 4-foot deep porch that runs the entire length of the cabin.
The porch is built at the factory, then folded for delivery.
Four feet is really not very deep. I wonder if they could make it any deeper?
I suppose it is wide enough for rocking chairs. And it really does look good.
The porch and dormer windows really do enhance the look of this cabin.
Log Siding
The cabin is clad in half-log siding. This is not really a log cabin, although it looks like one.
Log siding is wood that is milled to look like logs. It is then applied to the outside (or inside) of a house to make it look like a log cabin. I first learned about it when I bought a log dog house to match my log cabin.
It really does look like real logs. Each cabin is completed in the warehouse, then brought to your location.
Both of these are 40 feet long. You can choose other sizes.
You can see these at Secure Storage of Knoxville, Tennessee.
Secure Storage of Knoxville is at 7721 Maynardville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938.
