Most Storage at the Best Price
Calculating the lowest price per square foot of storage in a shed that you don’t have to pull permits to put in.
Here are the prices on all of the sheds from Tuff Shed that we can get put in without waiting for a permit and inspections.
This post is a continuation of a lot of other posts trying to figure out which shed we to put in.
There have been a lot of delays that are beyond our control. We have decided that we need to just go ahead and get something for storage.
So, here are the prices on all of the sheds from Tuff Shed that we can get put in without waiting for a permit and inspections.
Model | w x l x h | base price | footprint | per foot |
Garden Ranch | 10′ X 12′ X 8’2″ | $2,343.00 | 120 | $19.53 |
Garden Barn | 10′ X 12′ X 11’6″ | $2,835.00 | 120 | $23.63 |
Premier Ranch | 12′ X 12′ X 9’6″ | $3,431.00 | 144 | $23.83 |
Premier Lean-To | 12′ x 12′ x 9’5″ | $3,920.00 | 144 | $27.22 |
Premier Tall Ranch | 12′ X 12′ X 10’6″ | $3,920.00 | 144 | $27.22 |

Premier PRO Tall Barn | 12′ X 12′ X 14’6″ | $5,158.00 | 144 | $35.82 |
Premier PRO Studio | 10′ X 12′ X 10’6″ | $5,605.00 | 120 | $46.71 |
The Premier Barn Garage, Premier Ranch Garage and Premier PRO Ranch Garage are all too big. They only come in sizes that would require permits.
Surprisingly, the Garden Ranch and Garden Barn come out to be the best price by the floor space. Even though neither of them come in 12’x12′ size.
I compared the 10’x12′. That is 120 square feet, 24 square feet less. The Garden Ranch has a low ceiling, only 8’2″ in the center. But it is only $2,343.
The Garden Barn is 11’6″ high in the center. It is $2,835.
Premier or Garden Shed
There are a lot of differences between the Premier sheds and the Garden Ranch and Barn. The Premier versions have deeper door thresholds, bigger locks, galvanized steel floor joists instead of treated lumber, SilverTech radiant barrier roof decking instead of OSB roof decking and studs spaced 16″ on-center instead of 24″ on-center.
The Premier sheds have a 7 year warranty. The Garden sheds warranty is 5 years.
The next best deal, just comparing floor space is the Premier Ranch and the Premier Lean-To. The Lean-To is the one we had decided on.
Selecting a Premier Lean-To from Tuff Shed >
They both come with a 12’x12′ footprint for 144 square feet of storage. The Premier Ranch has a 9’6″ ceiling in the center. It costs less, $3,431. That makes it $23.83 per square foot.
The Premier Lean-To is almost as high, just an inch less at 9’5″. It costs $3,920, $27.22 per square foot.
The biggest differences, besides the obvious roof difference is the sidewall height. The sides of the Premier Rance are 6’8″. The Lean-To is 6’5″ on the shortest wall. Everything else is pretty much the same.
The Premier Tall Ranch and Premier PRO Ranch are also really good choices. The higher ceilings, 10’6″ for the Tall version and 10’1″ for the PRO are really nice.
The Premier Tall Ranch would be $3,920. That makes the 144 square feet of floor space $27.22 per foot.
The Premier Tall Ranch is higher inside. The sidewall height is 7’8″. The PRO is only 6’8″ high inside by the walls.
They both have a steel-reinforced shed door that you can put on your choice of wall. The Premier Tall Ranch door is taller, 4′ x 6’7″. The Premier PRO Ranch shed door is 4′ x 6′ 2″.
The Premier Tall Ranch has 3-Tab Shingles with a 25 Year Warranty.
The Premier PRO has Dimensional Shingles with a Lifetime Warranty.
They both have 6″ boxed eave on all walls instead of the 4″ block sidewall eaves on the others.
The Premier PRO Ranch is $4,159, not a whole lot more, $28.88 per square foot.
Premier Ranch, Premier Lean-To and Premier Tall Ranch have a 7-year warranty. The Premier Pro Ranch has a ten year warranty.
There are a lot of places around here that sell sheds and we might buy from one of them, but at least now we have some numbers to start with.
