A-Frame House on Hilton Head Island
We saw this A-Frame house on Hilton Head Island
The house has only roof on two sides, so the only windows are on the front and back.
They have French doors and air-conditioners in the walls.
I’ll bet a lot of heat leaves through that open window in the peak.
I’ve heard that A-Frame houses were designed to contend with with heavy snow.
But then I’ve also seen tropical A-frame houses.
I doubt there is a lot of danger from snow load.
I’ve also read that A-Frame construction is able to withstand hurricanes. Maybe. But it doesn’t seem like it. It seems like that is an awful lot of surface to get blown at. Perhaps a flat, very well reinforced A-frame…
I’ve stayed in an A-Frame Vacation Rental. It was pretty small. It had an open floor plan with a kitchen and living room all in one. There was a loft bedroom upstairs and a tiny bedroom downstairs. The inside walls were angled like the roof.
