We Have Gutters!
There is a lot going on at the house this week. Here’s how they put in the gutters.
The truck has a machine that makes gutter. The material starts as a roll of metal.
This machine turns this material into a gutter.
First they measured. Then they made a section of seamless gutter the right length. They applied gutter sealant to the end caps, and then pressed the caps onto each end of the gutter. They put in the hangers. After they completed the gutter, they started all of the screws. Then they attached the gutter to the fascia.
Next they attached the downspouts. They marked where the downspout will go, and then drilled a hole to start. Using snips, he cut out for the elbow. The installer used silicon where the parts come together.
Cutting downspout is a two man job.
The installers measured and cut the downspout.
Then one guy attached a piece of flexible downspout to the bottom.
They attached straps to the wall.
Then they pushed the downspout onto the elbow.
They screwed the straps to the downspout.
Earlier the graders had dug trenches and put in downspout drain lines to conduct water away from the foundation at ground level.
The gutter installers pushed the flexible accordion part they had screwed on into the downspout drain lines.
Where the roof has valleys that would direct more rain, they put on gutter splash guards.
He made the gutter splash guard out of the gutter material.
Then he secured it to the gutter. They put one in for every valley.
Here is another view. The gutter is attached to the elbow, then to the downspout, which is strapped to the house. That’s it!
