Cultured Marble Vanity Tops and Tub Surround
They put in the bathroom sinks and the tub surround today.
The sinks are one piece Cultured Marble. They are seamless. The sink and countertop are molded together, so they will be very easy to keep clean.
They glued a piece to the wall in each bath to make the backsplash wrap around.
They left the plastic on to protect the sink for now.
Tub Surround
Next, the tub surround.
This is kinda what it looked like when they got there. Except there was trim on the walls.
They removed the trim and the drywall apron.
They cut out the drywall and put in a water dam.
They put little blobs of liquid nails and silicone.
Meanwhile the other guy measured and cut panel. He cut it with a skill saw.
He used the wind from the saw to blow the dust off the panel.
They peeled the plastic off the panel.
They sanded the edges.
They wiped down the back of the panel with acetone. This will remove anything that might make it not adhere.
They put some hot glue on the wall. That holds it immediately.
They worked together to put the panel up.
The Apron
Next, the apron. This one took some fitting. He cleaned the floor thoroughly to make sure it fit snug.
Once he got the piece trimmed to fit exactly right, he put on some liquid nails and silicone.
Then, once he has it just right, some hot glue.
They added the panel at the end of the tub. I couldn’t get any photos without getting in the way.
The Final Panel
The last panel was the most complicated. It had the stuff sticking out. They took all the measurements and wrote them down.
Then he measured and drew the measurements onto the cultured marble panel.
He used the skill saw to cut the square for the control valve. He just carefully put the edge of the saw on the lines he had drawn, then knocked out the square.
He used a drill to cut the hole for the tub spout.
While he had been cutting, the other guy had blobbed on the silicone and liquid nails. They added some hot glue and the panel went right into place.
They added a clamp to hold it tight.
I love it! Looks great and easy to clean!
I had opened the window so we wouldn’t be asphyxiated by the acetone. I remembered when the weather forecast last night said it was supposed to pour. I drove back to the house. They had closed the window! (Everybody else even leaves the doors wide open.)
I really recommend these guys. Not just for closing the window. They did an excellent job and they left the worksite cleaner than when they arrived.
