Installing the Drywall
We dropped by the house on Saturday and they had already been there since early in the morning. Lots was done and they were busy screwing in the ceiling in our room.
Now I see why they made all the marks on the floor. They used this to remind themselves where to cut the holes out of the drywall after they covered everything up.
This is a short clip of them walking around on stilts screwing the ceiling into place.
They measured for the cut outs when they got to where the bathroom wall comes in. The guy in the living room made the cuts and passed the drywall through the wall.
The guys on the stilts lifted the huge piece of drywall into place.
Then another guy got up on a ladder to help hold it up while they screwed it in.
They put adhesive on the bottom of the trusses.
They had already done the bathrooms when we got there. They use purple drywall around the bathtub.
PURPLE® drywall is unique because it resists moisture, mold and mildew. In addition, most PURPLE® drywall products also stand up to scratches, scuffs dents and sound. It is resistant drywall with added mold and mildew resistance. It’s earned the highest possible scores on the most stringent quality tests in the industry, which means extra protection for your walls and ceilings and peace of mind for you.
We found a big roll of the ends of the drywall. Why did they peel the edges off?
Then we realized that the drywall wasn’t as crazy thick as it looks. They pack it with two sheets stuck together. They peel the edges off to separate them.
When we dropped by on Sunday they had finished all the high stuff. We had Geordie with us.
