Progress on Porches and the Carport
They are also working on the porches. They dug the piers back out again. They dug them out once, but the guys putting in the the gutter drain lines buried them again.
They were careful to measure and level.
They notched each leg to fit.
The legs look very long, but most of it is under ground.
This metal base is attached to the leg where it is supported by the concrete pier deep underground.
Then they measured. They notched the wood, added these metal pieces to the bottom of each leg, then secured it in place.
Each leg is bolted in place.
Looks secure.
They are also putting in more of the Simpson ties.
They have to have the carport legs done, so they can pour the concrete.
By the end of the day they were finished and cleaning up.
Here is the front porch.
Here is where we are with the back porch. A different crew puts in the floor, which is called decking. They are probably the ones that will put in the rails so we don’t fall off.
I don’t know what crew does the steps or when they go in. There is more grading, so it will likely be after that.
