Building the Porches
More materials have been delivered. The skips are gone and we have a new empty one. And…
They have started on the porches!
The plans have a nice front porch. It is 17’ wide and 6’ deep.
The log cabin has a huge front porch. We spend a lot of time on it. So we decided to add a large porch to the back of the new house. It isn’t as big as the porch on the log cabin, but it’s close. The porch at the new house is 28’ wide x 12’ deep.
The French doors from the dining room open to the back porch. We also added a door from our bedroom to the back door, too.
When I got there, they had dug up the piers. They poured the piers at the same time as the rest of the footers, but they had covered them back up when they graded.
They nailed on this flashing.
They nailed up some wood and started drilling holes in it.
Then they drilled a lot of holes and put in these long pins.
