Schumacher Homes Cross Creek Modified House Plan

Schumacher Homes Cross Creek Modified House Plan

We’ve selected a floor plan from Schumacher Homes. They have some really excellent floor plans to choose from.

You can make any alterations you want.

We chose the Cross Creek plans and really didn’t make many alterations.

This is the front of the house. We removed the window on the left side of the door. It gave a nice balanced look to the front of the house, but was just going into a closet. I plan to hang something there instead, like the wreath in the drawing above. I moved that window to the main bathroom. They don’t charge anything to move a window.

This is the plan for the front of the house, with the elevations. I have some questions about the elevations, location of the garage door and the carport, which looks ready for an RV.

The front porch is better than it looks. It is 6′ deep and 17′ wide!

This is the back of the house. We added a really big 12′ x 28′ back porch.
We moved the master bedroom 4′ so that we can have a door open from the bedroom to the porch. We gave the added space to our closet, so we have a super big walk-in closet from the master bedroom.

Schumacher Homes gives you a per-square-foot price for your home. If you add square footage, just multiply it by that price and that’s how much it’ll cost. There is a price per square foot for porches, garages and carports, too so you can figure what things will cost and whether it is worth it to you.

This is the side of the house. We added a carport and a door from the carport to the garage. We added this window, which is to the “owner’s bath.” On the original plans, there are no windows on the sides on this plan. I guess for developments where the houses are close to each other.

This is the west side of the house. This side will face the other street. We are on a corner lot.

So, here are the plans. They are nearly complete. We moved the opening to the closet and added another door, so that it will open from the foyer instead of from the hallway. This will make it much easier to get things in and out of it. (Probably a lot of folding tables and chairs.) This closet is 4′ x 6′ 7 1/2″. The foyer is 8′ x 6′ 7 1/2″.

Aren’t these great plans? A giant laundry room which I plan to also use as a sewing room and space for any other project. A linen closet! Plenty of kitchen cabinet space!

We moved the bedroom to have a door onto the porch. We used the space for more closet. We moved the hot water heater into the garage. This gives more space in the laundry room. (Laundry room!) Eventually I would love to put an upright freezer there.

There are a few other changes we have made that are not on these plans yet. We are removing the cabinets in the “pocket office.” The washer and dryer will back against the closet wall instead of the hallway to the master bedroom, so we will be less likely to hear the washer and dryer.
