Project: Building a King Sized Bed

Project: Building a King Sized Bed

I found a bed that I just loved. Except it was a Full and we needed a King. I had looked for a long time and I couldn’t find a King-sized bed I liked. Or just didn’t hate.

I negotiated with Warren Morris of Mesa Custom to make it work. I made a drawing and he built it.

Before: I was looking for a headboard that would fit this King-sized bed and go with the other furniture in the room.

We already had the bed; box springs and a mattress on a metal frame. Warren widened the headboard and footboard with wood that was the same thickness.

He replaced the side rails to surround the existing bed frame support.

Then he stained and finished it so you cannot tell where the old finish meets the new finish.

It is almost perfect. I would like the metal frame to be lower. It would fit better if it were 6″ or so lower. But I haven’t won that argument yet.
