Tuff Shed Small House – Cimarron 720 sq ft Cabin
You can start with a Tuff Shed auxiliary building like the TR-1600 to make a small house. Tuff Shed also makes cabin shells with floor plans and options for framing the rooms. Tuff Shed puts up the shell and you finish it yourself.
The Cimarron is small at 720 square feet, but is surprisingly practical with one bedroom and one bathroom.
The Cimarron is 24′ wide x 30′ deep, not including the small front porch. It has a 5/12 roof pitch.
There is a back door with a small overhang.
The front porch is 6′ deep and runs the width 24′ width of the house. You can click to open these bigger.
The back porch is only 3′, enough to help keep the rain off the door.
Interior Wall Framing
TUFF SHED cabin shells come with a set amount of unfinished interior wall framing. You can use these plans or come up with a plan you like better.
If you add walls it costs more. If you subtract walls, you get a credit.
This is the standard floor plan, but you can modify it any way you want.
The standard plan has a 13’5″ x 8’8″ kitchen. The living room is 14’3.5″ x 18′.
The bedroom is 10′ x 14′ with a small 2′ deep closet.
The bathroom is 8’6″ x 5′.
The plan includes a laundry room that is 10′ x 6’4″. The laundry room also has a 2′ deep closet.
Options and Upgrades
Tuff Shed offers a lot of options and upgrades. You can add and upgrade the porches, add decks, change the roof and the roof pitch and alter the interior walls.
Siding, Paint and Stain
The standard cabin comes with LP SmartSide™ Siding and Trim Boards. This is the vertical groove siding that looks remotely like board and batten. You can change it to real wood board and batten.
You can change the siding to cement board, Hardie board with Hardie trim.
It is also available with Spruce, Pine or Cedar lap siding with rough sawn trim.
You can even have Spruce or Pine Half Log siding with rough sawn trim which makes it look like a log cabin.
You can paint or stain your siding yourself, or it can be done when your Tuff Shed is built on-site. Standard is two coats of quality Glidden Professional latex paint. If you have lap siding or half log siding, it should be stained.
Doors and Windows
The cabin shell includes the insulated vinyl windows shown on the plan.
You can add or alter the windows. Add single, double or triple hung insulated vinyl energy-rated standard windows. The bathroom window can have an obscure glass insulated slider.
Or add clerestory trapezoid windows near the roof line.
The Cimarron comes standard with a steel six front door. You can upgrade to a variety of doors with windows in them.
Roof
The Cimarron has a 5/12 roof pitch with Owens Corning dimensional shingles. You can upgrade to a steeper roof pitch. You can have a metal roof and upgrade to wider eaves, too.
Dormers
Dormers add curb appeal, usable space and natural light.
Decks and Porches
You can upgrade the porch and add decks. There are different prices for decks and porches with or without a roof, railings, steps and stairs
Bump Out
You can add additional space to your cabin with a small bump
out. Have a more Craftsman style roof line or add an entry room.
